2025 started at full speed for 5G-STARDUST: from January to March, our international consortium was on the road across Europe (and beyond) to attend a wide array of events, promoting the project’s objectives and progress, both in terms of general and individual activities.
ASMS/SPSC 2025

Our tour started in Sitges, Spain, with the 12th Advanced Satellite Multimedia Systems Conference, jointly organised with the 18th Signal Processing for Space Communications Workshop (ASMS/SPSC). The event had very close ties with our consortium, as it was organised by 5G-STARDUST’s coordinating partner DLR Institute for Communications and Navigation, alongside the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC), with the scientific support of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the University of Bologna.
The guiding theme of the event was the role of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) within future 6G systems – which couldn’t be more connected with the project’s work – and the partners had the further chance to showcase 5G-STARDUST through a dedicated booth on ASMS/SPSC’s exhibition floor, which could count on the visit of 170 registered participants, confirming the event’s outstanding technical level and its key impact in the field of satellite communications.
Mobile World Congress 2025

The key event to be for the ICT community was 5G-STARDUST’s second stop: there we had a large group of representatives from our consortium (CTTC, Hispasat, Software Radio Systems, Fraunhofer, AW2S), all present with an individual booth and showcasing the project’s promotional material, introducing the visitors to our vision and strategy.
Taking place annually in Barcelona, MWC doesn’t need introductions: it is the largest and most influential event for the connectivity ecosystem, coming together under one roof. Tens of thousands of senior executives from the top global companies, international governments and trailblazing tech businesses converge at MWC Barcelona to make decisions, so it was once again capital to have such a consortium delegation attending – and having the benefit of such platform to spread the word about our work.
MWC also saw the gathering of representatives of the projects working under the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) – which includes 5G-STARDUST – for an event dubbed “Explore the Future of Connectivity”: this set of sessions, happening right on MWC’s opening day, delved into how Europe’s digital infrastructure is evolving from transmission-centric paradigms toward a computing-centric future. It also explored the critical role of converging technologies – radio access networks (RAN), edge computing, and AI – in shaping Europe’s digital economy and sustaining its global competitiveness.
V5G Days Valencia
Hispasat continued this run, with their participation at V5G Valencia, which took place on March 27-28.
Reaching its fourth edition this year, V5G Days features discussions and workshops – attracting industry leaders, plus experts in technology and science – to discuss the challenges of 6G, the evolution of 5G and how Next Generation Networks (NGNs) will evolve. Hispasat had the chance to talk about 5G-STARDUST within the context of the event, mentioning our work during a presentation for the crowd of attending stakeholders.
EU-Japan Digital Week
A very last-minute addition consisted in the promotion of the project at the EU-Japan Digital Week 2025, courtesy of 5G-STARDUST partner Martel Innovate – which also co-organised the event – effectively bringing attention to the project within a brand new context.
Taking place from March 31 to April 7 in Tokyo, the EU-Japan Digital Week brought together stakeholders from the EU and Japan to focus on key priority areas for both regions, including 6G, Data Spaces, Smart Connectivity and Computing, and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence. Among the on-site workshops there was focus on 6G Development – very much relevant to 5G-STARDUST’s work – fostering dialogue between policymakers, industry leaders, and experts.
