SUMMARY:Fifth Visions for Future Communications Summit
DESCRIPTION:Vision of Future Communications Summit is a top-quality research workshop\, with the support of IEEE\, oriented to identify key research areas in information and communication technologies in the mid-future of 7 to 10 years. The VFCS is an exercise we perform as the launching effort for updating the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the EU\, an effort we have continuously made in the last years. This upcoming SRIA will have a peculiar significance. It will be the SRIA associated with the launching of FP10\, the new framework program. As such\, this will have a particularly large long-term impact\, in helping to define Europe long term priorities for the whole framework program. \nOur partner Alessandro Guidotti of CNIT will be attending and presenting at the event\, on the subject of the vision beyond 6G for NTN.

SUMMARY:5th NTN Workshop – Towards a unified TN-NTN system – Current topics and latest advancements
DESCRIPTION:Building on the progress from interoperability toward full unification of terrestrial and satellite communication ecosystems\, the 5th NTN Workshop brings together mobile and satellite network operators\, integrators\, technology providers\, and academia in a collaborative setting to present and openly discuss the evolution of the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) domain. With 3GPP 6G standardisation now underway\, this moment marks a decisive turning point\, as\, for the first time\, NTN communication is fully embedded in the standardisation process from the get-go. The workshop is structured around key presentations\, expert panels\, and live demonstrations\, highlighting the roles of newly available laboratory infrastructure\, space assets\, and cost-effective testbeds as foundations for experimentation and validation. As a recognised industry forum\, the NTN Workshop focuses on unification by bridging Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial sectors and harnessing the momentum created by 6G and O-RAN standardisation to shape new ecosystems and accelerate cross-industry convergence. \nOrganisers: Maria Guta (ESA)\, Adam Kapovits (Eurescom)\, Marius Corici (Fraunhofer FOKUS\, partner in 5G-STARDUST)  \nThe workshop will not only feature 5G-STARDUST in its talks and presentation agenda – with Project Coordinator Tomaso de Cola  from German Aerospace Center (DLR) and partner partner CNIT attending – but it will be also accompanied by an exhibition area\, with a dedicated booth showcasing the project’s innovations\, among fellow SNS JU projects such as 6G-NTN and ETHER. \nFor more details: https://www.fokus.fraunhofer.de/en/ngni/events/5th-ntn-workshop-2025.html

SUMMARY:“Objective and Subjective Approaches to Key Value Indicators - Sharing methodological approaches and evaluation instruments” Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is co-organised by fellow SNS project 6G4Society. \nAs KVIs become further developed and integrated as key components of SNS JU projects\, challenges have emerged around how to identify what is a good measure of a KV\, and how these can look different for subjective and objective evaluations. Key to this is understanding how these approaches and instruments can be different from KPIs and what other methodological resources can be drawn upon in their development. The aim of this workshop is twofold. First\, it will share different approaches being developed in SNS JU projects as well as approaches used by external experts who also pursue indicators of social and sustainability values. Second\, it will break the participants into small groups to work together to explore how what was presented can inform their diverse projects. The idea is to blend expert knowledge with interactive dialogues between SNS projects that are actively working on KVIs. \nMore information and registration 👉  https://6g4society.eu/event/6g4society-trialsnet-workshop-/

SUMMARY:6GNet 2024
DESCRIPTION:6G network research has already started with some initiatives like the 6G Flagship. Besides the (somewhat questionable) speed race\, 6G networking is a tremendous opportunity to investigate and foster research in areas like the need for massive digital inclusion and stronger robustness against attacks of any kind\, among other challenging topics like global network automation and cross-domain service/slice design\, delivery and operation.\n6G networking may also be seen as a true convergence point where the distinction between fixed and mobile infrastructures would not make sense anymore. \nThe research effort in this area of convergence has ignited for quite some time but dramatically progressed with 5G techniques\, possibly combined with others like advanced forwarding schemes (multi-path communication designs) or AI/ML-fueled network automation. \nThis third 6G conference therefore aims at assessing the progress of the various research efforts in areas that will forge 6G networks. \nFor more information: https://6g-conference.dnac.org/2024/
